The hotel is within walking distance to places that cater to its business clientele in the "Auto City" of Anting. The largest draw within 15 minutes on foot is the incredible Shanghai Auto Museum— any car lover will want to go. Also within walking distance is the Auto Expo Park, a large green area where events are held and offers a nice place for a jog. What you will find in the immediate area is wide boulevards and modern corporate buildings, not quaint shops or cafes; these belong to automotive companies like SAIC Volkswagen.
There is no real street life or local restaurants in this area. To find some variety, you would have to walk for about 20 minutes towards the center of Anting. Here you will find more localized eateries as well as convenience stores and small shops. The hotel itself is the main center of activity in this block. The Formula 1 race, which takes place at the Shanghai International Circuit, is not within walking distance. You would have to take a short taxi ride.
The most crucial place you can go to on foot to catch a train is the Anting station for Shanghai's Metro Line 11, which is just a 15-minute walk away. The walk is easy along new sidewalks, but you should remember that this subway station is your way to the rest of Shanghai. The trip from here to main tourist spots like People's Square is direct but will take a long 70-90 minutes.
